What we do...
The X Foundation was set up in 2008 with the specific intention of raising awareness and money for good causes by mobilising and marshalling scarce human resources, such as talent, commitment, influence, and celebrity. Our aim is to extract the maximum utility from these commodities so that participants can generate significant charitable contributions with little or no financial cost to themselves.
How it works...
A typical project involves using a small amount of money (from a partner charity or The X Foundation's limited reserves) to hold an event or launch a product or service, which subsequently generates much greater returns for a particular cause than the starting sum alone. This is achieved by drawing on the broad talents and attributes of The X Foundation's members in order to ensure that the project is innovative and commercially successful. In doing so, the value of the initial investment is multiplied exponentially. This is the inspiration for the "X" in The X Foundation.
Why we are different...
Unlike most charitable foundations, The X Foundation did not start out with a financial endowment. Our wealth is measured in the dedication of our team and the originality of our ideas. Consequently, The X Foundation does not accept unsolicited grant applications, but is more than happy to look at proposals for innovative charitable projects that need developing and managing.
Why we don't take donations...
The X Foundation funds itself through its own projects. We would therefore prefer donors to give directly to one of the excellent charities we support, which will then be able to claim Gift Aid on the sum.
Who we are...
Officially launched in 2008 by Paul Harry Thomas, The X Foundation is a loose collection of specialists in fields as diverse as marketing, design, performance, law, photography, medicine, journalism, and finance. This breadth of experience means that we can tailor our services to meet the needs of a diverse range of projects. To this end, The X Foundation now has a growing number of members, honorary members, and ambassadors.

We are always looking for volunteers to join our dynamic team. If you care about the big issues, and would like to make a contribution to a worthy cause in a non-financial way, please consider getting involved. We would especially like to hear from anyone with innovative fundraising ideas.
